Description

The Weekend Day Care Scheme aims to provide flexible care for dementia sufferers and support for their carers at weekends and on Wednesday evenings. The Weekend Day Care Scheme is a part of VSA.

Services/Activities

There are trained staff at the centre and several volunteers who have a wide range of skills and experience.

Weekend Day Scheme

Individual care programmes are devised to provide stimulation and social activities for those attending while allowing their carers a break. Each member of the club is provided with activities which are enjoyable and therapeutic. Every week there are trips to places of local interest. On fine days those who are able go for accompanied walks. On days spent indoors there is a variety of activities including crafts, baking, indoor games and social activities.

Wednesday Evening Club

The Wednesday Evening Club provides an opportunity for people attending Weekend Day Care and their carers to have a social evening out together.

Volunteers

Anyone with some spare time and interested in becoming a voluntary helper in any way, including befriending a client, please contact the project manager for more information.

Self referral via Social Work / Health

Cost:

A small charge is levied to meet refreshment and transport costs

Transport
The project has its own minibus and staff can collect from and / or deliver clients to their home

If a carer has transport this can be used when convenient
