Services

Aberdeenshire Family Information Service (AFIS) provides free information on all childcare provision and pre-school education, and guidance on choosing appropriate childcare for children. AFIS was set up through the Aberdeenshire Childcare Partnership as part of the National Childcare Strategy.

The Service is primarily for parents and carers wishing to access information on local childcare providers and pre-school education. All enquiries are treated in confidence.

The Service offers advice on:

• contacts for childcare organisations
• how to get help with paying for childcare
• questions to ask when choosing a provider
• types of childcare that are available for children from birth to 16 years old such as creches, childminders, playgroups, nurseries and out of school clubs
