Services

Choose Life is a national strategy and action plan to prevent suicide in Scotland and was launched in 2002 to address one of the four key aims of the National Programme to Improve Mental Health and Well-being (Scottish Executive, 2001).

The Choose Life Co-ordinators for Aberdeen City and Aberdeenshire are responsible for:

• co-ordinating local suicide prevention activity
• liaising between all organisations and agencies involved
• promoting partnership working
• trying to embed suicide prevention into local community plans
• identifying opportunities for mainstreaming Choose Life funded projects
• identifying service provision gaps in the area of suicide prevention
• promotion and awareness raising of suicide prevention agenda
