The NHS Grampian healthpoints are testing a new way for the public to access the healthpoint service by offering healthtext. This pilot project will run from 01/10/07 to 31/03/08, with the aim of increasing the accessibility of the healthpoint service to the whole of the Grampian population by utilising the latest available technology for information provision. The healthtext service will offer members of the public, who are looking for help with their health, the unique opportunity to text for free confidential information and advice. No premium rates will apply as the text messages will cost standard network rates. To access the healthtext service. members of the public simply have to text the word ?HELP? to 0781 368 4274. They will then be offered the opportunity to either speak to a member of staff who will call them on their mobile phone, or to text their enquiry in full to the healthpoint. All texts will be answered, during office hours by trained healthpoint staff. A credit card size leaflet promoting the new healthtext service will be produced for this pilot project.
